As a third generation Daytonian, Tim is proud of his deep roots and a lifetime of experiences in Dayton. He is a product of Chaminade High School, and attended Sinclair Community College prior to receiving his undergraduate degree from Wright State University. He received his Master in Library and Information Science degree at Kent State University and completed additional graduate coursework in Public Administration from the University of Dayton.

Tim has spent much of his professional career involved in library technology. He served the Dayton Metro Library as Assistant Director for Information Technology prior to his appointment to the position of Executive Director in 2001. Tim has been active in the Ohio Library Council, the American Library Association, and the Urban Libraries Council.

In 2012, Tim lead a community effort to pass Issue 20, a $187 million bond issue to renovate, expand and/or replace all of the Dayton Metro Library facilities comprising over 500,000 sq. ft. of library spaces, across nearly 100 acres of property throughout Montgomery County. Eleven of the eighteen facilities, including the Main Library and Operations Center in downtown Dayton, have been finished with the entire program scheduled to be completed by 2022.

His current community service includes roles on the Board of Trustees of the Dayton Society of Natural History, the Learn to Earn Board of Directors, and on the Montgomery County Law Library Resources Board. He is also active on the Montgomery County Educational Services Center Business Advisory Committee. Tim is a proud graduate of the Leadership Dayton Class of 2006 and continues to serve the program on its Curriculum Committee. He also contributes to Wright State University’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Dean’s Advisory Council.

Tim regularly volunteers for service to the Oregon District Historical Society where he lives with his wife, Julie Beall, another Dayton native and former Director of the Alexandria Montessori School in Centerville.
